Most teams aren't short on talent. They're short on a clear view of how their own work actually moves.
My job is to find that view and build the structure around it, so the good work repeats without me in the room. I like the messy end: new ventures, cross-border teams, technical and commercial people who have to land on the same plan. Most of it is translation, usually between engineering and the business, or between Japan and everywhere else.

Inside one of the largest scientific collaborations ever assembled, I led a supercomputer design initiative across physicists, engineers, and government stakeholders. The lesson was that complexity itself is rarely the problem. Getting very different kinds of expertise to move in one direction is the hard part.

The work I like best needs technical, creative, and commercial judgment in the same room. I prefer small teams, plain language, and systems that make people more capable rather than more managed.
